How does Tab cel work?

How does Tab cel work?

Tabelecleucel (tab-cel) is an off-the-shelf allogeneic EBV-specific T cell immunotherapy generated from healthy donors that is selected for each patient (pt) from a library of T cells using the most appropriate human leukocyte antigen (HLA) restriction to address the patient’s disease.

What is tabelecleucel?

Tabelecleucel is a cellular therapy. It is made of white blood cells called cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) which have been expanded in the laboratory starting with cells from a healthy person who is immune to EBV. The cells recognize and destroy EBV-infected cells in the transplant recipient.

How does EBV cause PTLD?

Primary EBV infection increases the chance of developing PTLD 6 to 76 times. The high virion peak in the absence of an adequate immune response gives a massive infection of B cells and possibly bystander B cells, increasing the chance of development of PTLD.

What is lymphoproliferative disease?

B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders are conditions in the blood involving uncontrolled growth of lymphocytes (white blood cells). These conditions include such cancers as multiple myeloma, Hodgkin lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and such precursor conditions as monoclonal B-cell lymphocytosis.

Does EBV infect T cells?

EBV is able to infect T cells in vivo, as evidenced by its association with a variety of T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders; however the role EBV plays in the pathogenesis of these diseases is currently unknown.

What is ATA188?

Our T-cell immunotherapy product candidate, ATA188, is an off-the-shelf, allogeneic EBV T-cell that utilizes a targeted antigen recognition technology that enables the T‑Cells we administer to selectively identify cells expressing the EBV antigens that may be important in the pathophysiology of MS.

Is PTLD curable?

Most cases of PTLD can be treated successfully, especially if they are diagnosed early. People who are at risk of developing PTLD are usually monitored closely to make sure it is picked up early. The most common treatments for PTLD are: a reduction in the dose of your immunosuppressive drugs.

Is PTLD a lymphoma?

PTLD is classified as a lymphoma, a group of related cancers that affect the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system functions as part of the immune system and helps to protect the body against infection and disease.

Is lymphoproliferative cancerous?

A disease in which cells of the lymphatic system grow excessively. Lymphoproliferative disorders are often treated like cancer.

How long can you live with lymphoproliferative disorder?

The median survival after the diagnosis of follicular lymphoma ranges from 6 to 10 years.

What condition is caused by Epstein Barr virus?

EBV can cause infectious mononucleosis, also called mono, and other illnesses. Most people will get infected with EBV in their lifetime and will not have any symptoms. Mono caused by EBV is most common among teens and adults.

What cell type does EBV infect?

Human B cells are the primary targets of Epstein Barr virus (EBV) infection. In most cases EBV infection is asymptomatic because of a highly effective host immune response but some individuals develop self-limiting infectious mononucleosis, while others develop EBV-associated lymphoid or epithelial malignancies.

How does Tencel compare to cotton?

    Where does Tencel come from?

TENCEL® is a branded lyocell fiber that comes from the pulp of trees which is dissolved in a non-toxic organic solvent. The solution is extruded through fine holes to produce fiber and the solvent is recycled in a closed-loop process – more than 99% of the solvent is recovered and reused.

    Is Tencel a synthetic fabric?

Tencel (lyocell) is a recently (as of 2010) developed artificial fibre. It is the only fibre to be invented in the last 30 years. Unlike polyester or nylon, it is made not from a completely synthetic polymer but rather from wood-based cellulose . You can find pure Tencel fabric or Tencel fabric contains other types of fibres.
